Once Galileo starts sniffing at Cisco's hand, Hamelin finally decides to make his way off the couch to find out what's going on, and soon Cisco has all four rats around or on him. Hartley's surprised by how good Cisco is with the rats. Most guys he's tried introducing to his rats hadn't been able to get past the fact that they were, well, rats. It's rare for him to find someone who isn't scared or disgusted by them. Once again, he finds himself glad he chose to give this a chance. "Yeah, I've noticed the tattoos," he says, finally acknowledging that he did indeed take the rats from STAR Labs.
Hartley doesn't say anything else for a moment. He's letting it sink in that Cisco not only seems to not mind that Hartley stole STAR Labs property, but he's also willing to help him learn more about said 'property'. "Thank you," he says, giving Cisco a warm smile. "I have their ID numbers written down. I'll give you the paper I have them written down on in a bit," he says, giving him a grateful look. "I'm glad Caitlin took the others to a rescue and gave them a chance to find a good home. I know a lot of labs prefer to euthanize former animal test subjects. I'm glad that wasn't the case with you guys."
Hartley considers what Cisco says next, wondering if maybe there is a way to to test his flute while also avoiding testing it on animals, at least for a little bit longer. "Eventually testing it on something living will be necessary. There's no way around that," he says, his tone regretful. "But it wouldn't hurt to give your ideas a try before it comes to that," he says, giving Cisco's hand a light squeeze. "Talking to Caitlin might be a good idea. I'm not sure about Harry though. Can we trust him?" he asks.
He's about to say more, but it's all forgotten as Cisco speaks again. Cisco has been surprisingly wonderful all evening, and now he's being so supportive and kind in a way Hartley hasn't experienced in a long time. He's not sure how to tell Cisco just how grateful he is, but perhaps he can show. Hartley's heart races and he holds Cisco's gaze for a moment longer before finally cupping his cheek and leaning in to kiss him on the lips. He hadn't planned for their first kiss to happen while they were surrounded by curious rats, but he just can't help himself any longer. He's wanted to kiss Cisco since before they left the restaurant.
[ooc: I can't wait for Cisco to get a suit either! There's so much potential with him and I hope the writers take advantage of that. And don't worry about being slow! I've been a little slow too. Hopefully now that it's the weekend I'll have more time for tags.]
